Melody Walker

Melody is a native of and educated in Cleburne County. She has 20 years of extensive courtroom experience, having handled over 10,000 cases ranging from divorce, juvenile matters, criminal, support issues, and appeals. Melody has presided as municipal Judge for the Town of Ranburne since 2003, served the State of Alabama Department of Human Resources as a prosecutor for child support enforcement since 2005, and prosecutor for the City of Heflin since 2013. As municipal judge she enjoys a reputation of issuing fair rulings consistent with the law, in a timely and courteous manner. As an attorney she has a solid reputation for being knowledgeable in the law, well prepared for cases, and treating adverse parties with respect.

After much prayer and encouragement, Melody made her decision to run for District Judge. She grew up in the political arena, as her father served Cleburne County as Probate Judge. She is a graduate of Ranburne High School (1986), Birmingham – Southern College (1989) and Birmingham School of Law (1993). She is a member of the Alabama State Bar, Alabama Municipal Judges Association, Alabama Municipal Attorney Association, and the Calhoun/Cleburne Bar Association. She served for a number of years as a board member of the Family Law Section of the Alabama State Bar. Active in the Republican Party for several years, she currently serves on the Executive Committee for Cleburne County.

She and her husband, Scott Walker, reside in Heflin with their respective children.
